Discovering Argel\u00e8s-sur-Mer and Le Racou<\/h2>\n\n\n

Argel\u00e8s-sur-Mer, the Mediterranean<\/strong> caressed by a sun-kissed<\/strong> sky, an immense sandy beach<\/strong> stretching all the way to our beautiful C\u00f4te Rocheuse<\/strong>. The Blue Flag for clean beaches, harbors, handiplage<\/strong> and kids’ resorts<\/strong> are just some of the European labels that Argel\u00e8s-sur-Mer has held since its creation… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The coastal pathway<\/a> showcases this natural and historical heritage<\/strong>. The section from Le Racou to Plage de l’Ouille<\/strong> runs along the shale cliffs, through the Portells pebble coves<\/strong> – with staircases carved into the rock for easy discovery – and on to Plage de l’Ouille. Beyond Argel\u00e8s, the coastal path continues on to Collioure and Port-Vendres. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le Racou<\/strong><\/a>. This site has been classified by the commune and the Conservatoire du Littoral<\/strong> to preserve its picturesque character. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tour de la Massane<\/strong><\/a> classified as a nature reserve<\/strong> (794 m). In just a few hours, you’ll cross the maquis of the foothills, full of the floral scent and humus of the undergrowth. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Our Catalan country, a vast plain bordered to the south by the Pyrenees and to the east by the Mediterranean, and dominated by our majestic Canigou,<\/strong> offers an exceptional variety of landscapes<\/strong>: beaches, coves, vineyards, orchards, mountains, numerous typical villages (Collioure, C\u00e9ret, Villefranche…) with their architecture rich in history…<\/p>\n\n\n

We recommend starting from our campsite<\/strong> to visit our coastline<\/strong>, then Perpignan<\/a>, via Collioure, a fishing village renowned for its anchovies and painters<\/a> (Picasso, Derain, Georges Braque, Othon Friesz, Matisse).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We then invite you to continue with : Banyuls-sur-mer<\/a> and its marine reserve<\/strong>, not forgetting Roussillon wines<\/strong> to be drunk in moderation… Lac des Bouillouses<\/a> and its surroundings have been a listed natural site<\/strong> since June 24, 1976. The site is now accessible by shuttle bus, chairlifts and marked footpaths. Tautavel<\/strong> is world-famous for having on its territory the Caune de l’Arago<\/a>, a prehistoric cave<\/strong> that was home to the oldest known European (the oldest remains of Homo erectus in France), 450,000 years<\/strong> ago. Nearby, enjoy the Gorges de Galamus.<\/strong> Visit C\u00e9ret’s Museum of Modern Art<\/a>, galleries and painters, Catalan culture, bullfighting, music and more. It’s the capital of the cherry<\/strong>. Villefranche de conflent, located at the foot of the Pic du Canigou<\/a>, is one of the 14 Vauban<\/strong> sites to be classified by UNESCO as one of France’s most beautiful villages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visiting southern Catalonia<\/h2>\n\n\n

Located on the Cap de Creus peninsula, Cadaqu\u00e9s is one of the most famous towns on the Costa Brava in the Girona region<\/a>. Its rocky coastline,<\/strong> dotted with beautiful beaches<\/strong> and secluded coves<\/strong>, is one of its main attractions, not to mention the splendid landscape of the Cap de Creus Natural Park<\/a>. You can also visit the house-museum of the artist Salvador Dali<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
