Discovering Argelès-sur-Mer and Le Racou
Argelès-sur-Mer, the Mediterranean caressed by a sun-kissed sky, an immense sandy beach stretching all the way to our beautiful Côte Rocheuse. The Blue Flag for clean beaches, harbors, handiplage and kids’ resorts are just some of the European labels that Argelès-sur-Mer has held since its creation…
The coastal pathway showcases this natural and historical heritage. The section from Le Racou to Plage de l’Ouille runs along the shale cliffs, through the Portells pebble coves – with staircases carved into the rock for easy discovery – and on to Plage de l’Ouille. Beyond Argelès, the coastal path continues on to Collioure and Port-Vendres.
Le Racou. This site has been classified by the commune and the Conservatoire du Littoral to preserve its picturesque character.
Tour de la Massane classified as a nature reserve (794 m). In just a few hours, you’ll cross the maquis of the foothills, full of the floral scent and humus of the undergrowth.
The Pyrénées-Orientales, a region with an exceptional natural heritage
Camping Del Mar in Argelès-sur-Mer is an ideal base for discovering our superb French and Spanish Catalan region!
Our Catalan country, a vast plain bordered to the south by the Pyrenees and to the east by the Mediterranean, and dominated by our majestic Canigou, offers an exceptional variety of landscapes: beaches, coves, vineyards, orchards, mountains, numerous typical villages (Collioure, Céret, Villefranche…) with their architecture rich in history…
We recommend starting from our campsite to visit our coastline, then Perpignan, via Collioure, a fishing village renowned for its anchovies and painters (Picasso, Derain, Georges Braque, Othon Friesz, Matisse).
We then invite you to continue with :
Banyuls-sur-mer and its marine reserve, not forgetting Roussillon wines to be drunk in moderation…
Lac des Bouillouses and its surroundings have been a listed natural site since June 24, 1976. The site is now accessible by shuttle bus, chairlifts and marked footpaths.

Located on the Cap de Creus peninsula, Cadaqués is one of the most famous towns on the Costa Brava in the Girona region. Its rocky coastline, dotted with beautiful beaches and secluded coves, is one of its main attractions, not to mention the splendid landscape of the Cap de Creus Natural Park. You can also visit the house-museum of the artist Salvador Dali.
” Figueras with the Salvador Dali theatre-museum and its traditional market every Thursday”.

The volcanic area of La Garrotxa. To the north, the territory is bounded by the Catalan Pyrenees. The province is home to the three most representative museums of the work of surrealist painter Salvador Dalí: the Portlligat house-museum, the Púbol castle and the Dalí theater-museum in Figueres.
The historic center of its capital, Girona, is also worthy of mention, and in the gastronomic field, we would highlight the products of the huerta of the L’Empordá region and seafood such as shrimp from Palamós. Some of its restaurants have earned international renown, such as El Celler de Can Roca and El bulli, voted the world’s best restaurant in 2013.
For the most well-traveled among you, we suggest a visit to Barcelona, Spain’s Catalan capital, with its monuments and must-see sites such as the Sagrada Familila, Parc Güell, the Gothic Quarter, New Camp, the Ramblas, etc., not forgetting a visit to Andorra, the tax-free shopping“capital”…

Catalan gastronomy: authentic cuisine from land to sea
Whether you’re a wine, farm produce or gastronomy enthusiast, a wine connoisseur or a budding gourmet, interested in culture and history, our department is sure to please!
Catalan cuisine is often associated with land and sea, like the traditional “chicken with prawns”. We often refer to our cuisine as mar i munt which means ” sea and mountain “.
Traditional dishes such as “Cargolada” are complemented by ” Boles de Picoulat ” or “L’Ollada”, and Catalan charcuterie of the highest gastronomic level. These include “Botifarres”, small black or white sausages to be eaten raw or grilled, large “Bisbe” and “Dios” sausages with their delicate flesh, air-dried fillet sausages and “fuets”, a fine, fresh, dry sausage that’s an absolute must when grilling outdoors.
“Douceurs Catalanes, a few simple pleasures ….”
Pa d’ous, braç de gitano, mel i mató, bunyetes, pastissets, crema catalana, rousquilles… These are the poetic names of traditional Catalan desserts. You’ll probably know how to taste them before you know how to pronounce them, but the accent will come to you after a few tastings!
